This course is designed for anyone who may come into contact with asbestos as part of their working practices and provides practical advice and guidance on the precautions to be taken.

Who should attend?

Persons who may come into contact with asbestos during the course of the work, such as cleaners, maintenance staff, engineers, construction workers.

Aims

To introduce candidates to the hazards, risks and control measures associated with asbestos.

Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • show knowledge of the legal framework controlling asbestos in the workplace;
  • understand the dangers to health from exposure to asbestos fibres;
  • understand the need for risk assessment when working on asbestos containing materials;
  • have knowledge of the duties of anyone working with asbestos containing materials.
